An air source heat pump takes heat from the outside air and uses electricity to raise it to a useful temperature for home heating and hot water.

Age alone does not decide suitability. Heat loss, insulation, radiators, flow temperatures and the overall design all matter. The detailed technical assessment comes later in the process.

For the Boiler Upgrade Scheme, the applicant normally needs to own the property. Landlords can apply. Tenants can enquire, but the property owner needs to be involved before the project progresses.

The current standard Boiler Upgrade Scheme amount for an eligible air-to-water heat pump is £7,500. Certain oil or LPG properties without a mains-gas connection can currently qualify for £9,000 until 31 March 2027.

Not necessarily. Some homes may require a customer contribution or additional works. Forward Eco explains the expected route before asking you to proceed.
