Boiler Upgrade Scheme

Current heat-pump support

A clear summary of the current Boiler Upgrade Scheme amounts relevant to Forward Eco heat-pump enquiries.

£7,500 towards an eligible air-to-water heat pump

The Boiler Upgrade Scheme currently provides £7,500 towards an eligible air-to-water heat pump in England and Wales.

£9,000 for certain oil or LPG properties

Until 31 March 2027, eligible properties heated by oil or LPG that do not have a mains-gas connection can receive an additional £1,500, bringing the current total support to £9,000.

Important eligibility points

  • The applicant must normally own the property, including landlords.
  • The existing heating system and replacement type matter.
  • The system and installer must meet scheme requirements.
  • The grant does not necessarily cover every installation cost.

Forward Eco is not a government body and does not issue the grant. We help customers understand the process and coordinate progression with appropriately qualified installation partners.

The Boiler Upgrade Scheme is installer-led. Where a customer progresses under BUS, the MCS-certified installation partner submits the scheme application and applies the grant as an upfront discount to the eligible installation cost. Forward Eco coordinates the customer journey around that technical stage.

For the official scheme rules and current grant values, see GOV.UK Boiler Upgrade Scheme guidance or Ofgem’s BUS guidance.
