How a heat pump works
Heat from the air, used for your heating and hot water.
An outdoor unit absorbs heat energy from the air and transfers it into your home’s heating system. Air-to-water systems can provide both space heating and domestic hot water.
Heat pumps typically run for longer periods at lower water temperatures than boilers, which is why good system design matters.

Government support
£7,500 may be available towards an eligible installation.
For some suitable homes, support may cover the full standard installation. Additional works can still mean a customer contribution.
Certain off-gas oil/LPG properties
Qualifying properties may currently receive increased support until 31 March 2027.
Radiators
Existing radiators may be suitable, or some may need upgrading. The technical assessment determines what is required.
Winter performance
Properly designed heat-pump systems are intended to operate during cold weather.
